Over-Prescribed: Under Examined

Artist Statement: Coming from an over-prescribed generation, I chose to make a sculpture about how anti-depressants anesthetize us instead of encouraging us to search for meaning and culture in our lives. I’d like to encourage introspective and expressive alternatives to coping with mental illness like examining one’s life through the study of Philosophy or expressing oneself with art before resorting to the use of prescription medication.
